Greater Pike Community Foundation is pleased to announce a new fund has been established to help support deserving nonprofits in Pike County. The Pike Cares Fund is the result of a group of dedicated individuals who want to give back to the community. Fund Advisors Anne Raider, Steven Raider, and Connie Harvey, plus core team members were previously part of an ad hoc group raising funds for GAIT scholarships for equine assisted therapeutic sessions.
Steven Raider explained, “We decided to create this new fund to assist other nonprofits to hold events.” Noted Anne Raider, “It was a natural evolution from our work with GAIT. We’re branching out to help other nonprofits in Pike County.” One of the first free events Pike Cares will sponsor will be at Milford’s Back Road Brewing Co. where hundreds of kids will enjoy a Touch-a-Truck/Santa event, an opportunity to explore some cool vehicles from local Fire Departments and meet Santa and the Grinch. Connie Harvey added, “It’s on November 29 and the last time we did this, we had 800 children show up in a 3-hour time span.”
The Pike Cares team will also be partnering with the Milford Hospitality Group for the annual Christmas carriage rides, Milford Public Library’s annual golf outing, and more.
