Greater Pike Community Foundation Announces Agreement With Luzerne Community Foundation

Greater Pike Community Foundation (GPCF) announced it has reached an “affiliate fund” agreement with the Luzerne Foundation, a community foundation serving northeast Pennsylvania.
“We have appreciated guidance from The Luzerne Foundation (TLF) in helping us to establish Greater Pike Community Foundation,” said James Pedranti, Greater Pike’s board chair. “Now, as an affiliate fund, we will have access to resources we could not afford on our own. The people contributing money to GPCF now have a sense of security knowing TLF is affiliated with us while our foundation develops.”
“Through its grants and collaborations, community foundations impact lives, solve problems, and improve futures,” said Charles Barber, President and CEO of The Luzerne Foundation. “In a down economy, with limited resources and a growing need for services to help, we are more determined than ever to bring our community partners together to find innovative and effective solutions to some of our most challenging local problems. We are very proud to be working with Greater Pike Community Foundation.”
Greater Pike Community Foundation which was founded in 2012 develops, preserves and protects endowment assets to support various charitable purposes and increase the philanthropic resources of the Greater Pike County, PA area. The GPCF was organized in 2012, is awaiting 501(c)(3) recognition from the IRS, and it has entered into an Affiliate Fund Agreement with The Luzerne Foundation. As an affiliate fund, Greater Pike’s assets are now managed by TLF, which manages more than 260 funds with combined assets of approximately $25 million.
The Luzerne Foundation, founded in 1994, is recognized with the IRS under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code of 1986 as amended, and serves greater Luzerne County and Northeastern Pennsylvania area. Since their inception, they have distributed more than $40 million in grants supporting social services, education, scholarships, arts and culture, neighborhoods and community redevelopment, youth issues, historic preservation, the environment, health and welfare.
