John Keisendahl Honored with Community Service Award

October 26, 2015

On October 2nd, more than 150 guests joined the Board of Directors of Greater Pike Community Foundation to recognized John Keisendahl as the recipient of the 2nd Annual Barbara J. Buchanan Community Service Award. The event was held at the Inn at Woodloch Pines.

Because of her extraordinary commitment to public service and gift giving, Greater Pike Community Foundation established the Barbara J. Buchanan Community Service Award to annually recognize a Pike County resident or family who exemplify the spirit of giving back to our community. In addition to recognition, annual recipients receive $1,000 for the charity of their choice.

Since 1958, the Kiesendahl family has owned and operated the resort at Woodloch Pines and grown it to one of the major employers in Pike County. In fact, it is rated the #1 place to work.

John Kiesendahl is the eldest son of Harry and Mary, the resort’s founders, and is the President and CEO of Woodloch. He attended Cornell University’s Hotel school and joined the Navy before deciding to make Woodloch his career. He is best known for greeting guests personally during meals and wearing the “funny” pants (he has custom-tailored pants featuring many different children’s characters). He continues to provide the company with leadership and enthusiasm every day. John serves on the Board of Directors for the Dime Bank, is an active member of the School Board, and he is also Vice President of the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau.

Greater Pike Community Foundation was established to provide a personal and permanent way to give back to the region we love and have worked so hard to nurture and maintain. The Foundation enables individuals, families and local businesses to maximize their charitable support through organized, targeted community philanthropy. For good, forever is the simple purpose of Greater Pike Community Foundation.
