April 11, 2018

The Dime Bank donated $5,000.00 to the Greater Pike County Community Foundation (GPCF) through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

Through the GPCF, the EITC Program provides significant funding for innovative educational programming enhancements in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) at Delaware Valley School District (DVSD). In 2017-2018, the funding will assist STEM faculty in developing MakerSpace laboratory, a new innovative education program.

GPCF Executive Director Jenni Hamill said, “With the help of The Dime Bank, GPCF has had a hugely successful year with the EITC program at DVSD. Our long-standing and collaborative relationship with DVSD deepens every year, particularly this year as they are undertaking an ambitious project to increase student access to STEM areas of learning.”The new program will allow DVSD students to utilize the space for constructing of robotic and other mechanical devices, devices to further explore scientific principles, projects in the community, and projects for academic competitions. It will also allow students to explore mathematical concepts and to understand some of the challenges of everyday life during time periods studies in social studies classes.
