Wayne Bank Supports DVSD through Greater Pike

February 10, 2019

Lewis J. Critelli, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Bank, is pleased to announce that the Bank will support the Greater Pike Community Foundation with a donation through the Educational Improvement Organization Program in 2019.  Lenore Rogan, Executive Assistant for the Greater Pike Community Foundation, accepted a check in the amount of $10,000.00 from Mr. Critelli.

The gift was made possible as a result of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.  “Wayne Bank is proud to continue our support of the Delaware Valley School District through the valuable work of the Greater Pike Community Foundation,” stated Mr. Critelli. “The District’s STEM program offers an outstanding educational experience for students and we are so pleased to be able to contribute to this year’s exciting initiatives.”

Greater Pike will use this contribution to help support the Delaware Valley School District’s (DVSD) STEM program. Standing for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, the STEM program brings innovative educational programming enhancements in these areas to students.  The Greater Pike grant will enable the DVSD middle school to hold a science summer camp, as well as contribute to the development of an innovative “Makerspace Laboratory” in the new DV Technology Center. A Makerspace Lab is described by Makerspaces.com as, “A collaborative work space inside a school…for making, learning, exploring, and sharing… (to help) prepare those who need the critical 21st century skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). They provide hands on learning, help with critical thinking skills, and even boost self-confidence. Some of the skills that are learned in a makerspace pertain to electronics, 3D printing, 3D modeling, coding, robotics, and even woodworking.”

The Greater Pike Community Foundation was created to enable generous individuals, families, and local businesses to maximize their charitable support through organized, targeted, long-term community philanthropy, providing a permanent and personal way to give back to the region.

Wayne Bank is a subsidiary of Norwood Financial Corp., Member FDIC, and is located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The Bank has 26 Community Offices serving Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Lackawanna Counties in Pennsylvania, along with Delaware and Sullivan Counties in New York State. The stock trades on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol— NWFL.
