Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Contributes $15K for Pre-K Scholarships
April 15, 2019
Pre-Kindergarten scholarships for children in Pike County will be more available in 2019 after Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield contributed $15,000 to Greater Pike Community Foundation’s local Pre-K Scholarship Program.
Scholarship awards, based on financial need, will provide tuition support to families in the Greater Pike area with a preschool-aged child to attend pre-K at either the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD) or Green Trees Early Learning Center, Inc. Scholarship applications will be made available later this spring through the qualified schools. Families interested in applying for a pre-K scholarship may contact Gail Shuttleworth, Scholarship Chair, at scholarships@greaterpike.org for more information.
“We are grateful to Highmark for their generosity and investment in early childhood education allowing us to provide needed support to families with young children,” said Shuttleworth.
Highmark’s support was made possible by the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
