If there ever was a time for giving, it is now—when communities everywhere are summoning help for people and businesses struggling through the COVID-19 virus pandemic. That is one reason Greater Pike Community Foundation has eagerly teamed up with the Scranton Area Community Foundation and other sponsors to host NEPA Gives—a 24-hour giving marathon on June 5^th.  This is a one-day event that anyone can join from home—giving directly to the charity of one’s choice or even offering to match others’ donations to make a greater impact.

Greater Pike Executive Director Jenni Hamill said, “NEPA Gives could potentially have a seismic effect on struggling organizations trying to survive this year, but they have to register! Signing up is easy and can be done remotely from any computer.  Once complete, nonprofits can get to work on spreading the word about this event and encouraging supporters to participate.” Hamill added that participation is not limited to 501c3 tax-exempt organizations.  She explained, “Monies can also be raised for other types of nonprofits and for any Greater Pike Fund such as several emergency-relief initiatives that we have opened recently, as well as our standing endowment and scholarship funds.”

NEPA Gives lasts 24 hours, beginning Friday, June 5th at 12:00am through 11:59:59pm.
