Greater Pike Community Foundation is excited to announce the first recipient of the Ann Intili Morey Art Scholarship.  Abigail Reno, a senior at Delaware Valley High School, will receive $4000 towards her study of Theatre Production and Design at Temple University.

“She clearly is headed to a career involving her art talents,” said Ann Morey.  Morey, an artist in her own right, created the scholarship fund to help support a high school senior who plans to major in fine or applied art while attending a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university.  The applicants were required to submit an art portfolio to be judged by a small committee.  In announcing the award, Morey told Reno, “We were most impressed with your artwork, creativity, and choice of college.”

Reno said she was first introduced to theater design in her freshman year and was drawn to it because it required “art, creative thinking, and craftsmanship.”  As for the award, she said, “I’m grateful for the recognition,” and added, “I was very, very surprised! …It’s an important scholarship with a lot of good competition.”

Honorable mentions were given to applicants Hannah Peterson, Madison Henwood, and Zoe Spaide from Wallenpaupack High School, and Alexis King, Elizabeth Storms, and Olivia Gandolfo from Delaware Valley High School.
