Grant Available from the Safe Haven Legacy Fund
January 25, 2021
Greater Pike Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the first grant cycle for the Safe Haven Legacy Fund will be open from February 1st through February 14th, 2021. Eligible nonprofit organizations are encouraged to submit an application that addresses long-term or permanent housing needs for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
“Due to the generosity of donors and of Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc., this fund, established to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, will be awarding $4,400 to an eligible program,” said Greater Pike’s Grant Committee Chairperson Maryanne Monte. She emphasized the grant will be used to help secure long-term or permanent housing (as opposed to emergency or temporary housing).
Since Greater Pike opens various grant opportunities during the year, it is important to indicate on the application that it is for a grant from the Safe Haven Legacy Fund. The application can be downloaded on the website.
Greater Pike Executive Director Jenni Hamill noted, “While there are many programs that assist with temporary housing for victims of domestic violence, this fund addresses a need for permanent housing. I am looking forward to hearing from local nonprofits and learning about their ideas for addressing this critical problem. I am also grateful to the previous Safe Haven board members who put this program in place.”
The Safe Haven Legacy Fund was the vision of the Board of Directors of Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc. and former Executive Director Christina Byrne. Safe Haven closed its doors in 2019 after a 28-year run. Online donations to the fund can be made here.
Greater Pike helps individuals, families, and local businesses to provide a permanent and personal way to give back to the community. For more information contact Jenni Hamill, Executive Director, at (570) 832-4686, jennihamill@greaterpike.org, or visit www.greaterpike.org and/or our Facebook page.
