Greater Pike Reaches One Million Dollars in Gifting

August 2, 2021

Greater Pike Community Foundation is proud to announce a significant milestone in local philanthropy: The Foundation has surpassed $1,000,000 of giving in the form of grants and scholarships since its founding in 2012. Grants to nonprofit organizations have covered many needs including, but not limited to, food and housing insecurity, education, support for disabilities, animal welfare, arts, and cultural events, historic preservation, and emergency services.  Scholarships have been awarded for both preschool and post-high school tuition costs.

This milestone is particularly satisfying to Board Chair, Jim Pedranti, whose final term ends this year. Said Pedranti, “One of my goals when I founded Greater Pike was to reach the one-million-dollar mark. The community has been gracious in supporting the Foundation with donations and by establishing charitable funds that have enabled us to donate back to the community over $1,000,000 in just the short eight-plus years since our founding.”

In COVID relief alone, funds established at Greater Pike raised more than $70,000 for businesses and charities that struggled to keep the doors open during the pandemic.

“I think the $1,000,000 mark is incredibly exciting and demonstrates the collective power of charitable giving,” said Jenni Hamill, Greater Pike’s Executive Director.  “As our endowment grows, so too does our ability to support our community in a way that no other local charitable organization can.  I am already looking forward to gifting the next million!”

A great way to support the Foundation’s work and have an enjoyable evening at the same time is to attend their annual dinner on October 5th. This year, it will be at the newly renovated Tom Quick Inn.  Come celebrate as Centa Quinn receives the Barbara J. Buchanan Community Service Award and Junior Dabashi, owner of Key Food Marketplace, receives The Richard L. Snyder Business Leadership Award. Besides a gourmet dinner, there will be an open bar with premium cocktails and an award ceremony.
