18 Area Nonprofits Receive Grants from Greater Pike

August 26, 2021

This year’s grants from the Richard L. Snyder Fund at Greater Pike Community Foundation total more than $70,000 and will benefit 18 different not-for-profit organizations. The grants will be used to sponsor local arts, culture, festivals, and events; to maintain and enhance public areas in Milford Borough; and to support medical research.

Grant Committee Chair Maryanne Monte said, “These grants are important to the community, which is just beginning to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications. Richard Snyder’s generosity has helped support area not-for-profits covering a broad range of missions that make our community a great place to live.”

Among the grantees is Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Interim CEO, Janyne Gurnari, said, “We are thankful to have the Greater Pike Community Foundation and Richard L. Snyder Fund as regional partners in ensuring people have free access around the clock to the information and referral services they need to meet their needs. The pandemic and its repercussions have reinforced the value of community foundations and the vital work they do to support and build resilient, family-sustaining communities.”

At American Readers Theatre, Director Jeffrey Stocker noted the much-needed grant will be used to continue the ART Living History series. He thanked the Foundation and the Richard L Snyder Fund, adding, “The project reaches hundreds of students in the Delaware Valley School District whose teachers can introduce them to local history in a unique way.”

Milford Garden Club President Liz Steen said the grant will help Milford Borough Parks spruce up the playground areas. She thanked the Foundation and said, “Community partnerships are what make Pike County thrive.”
