Realtors Inspired by Kindness, Friendship

November 16, 2021

Milford, PA , November 16, 2021 — With a desire to give back to their community while spreading a spirit of kindness, an area real estate team has chosen Greater Pike Community Foundation to receive a portion of their sales through the end of the year.

The Arlene Quirk team of Keller Williams Real Estate recently set a goal of $15,000 to donate to the Art Ridley Spirit of Kindness Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Fund is designed to support one or more annual scholarships to graduating Delaware Valley seniors who embody a spirit of giving in their community and have exhibited acts of kindness to those in need.

“Art was a pillar of our community, and we really feel his passing,” said Arlene Quirk, who was a personal friend of Ridley’s and served with him in the Milford-Matamoras Rotary since 1999. “We like the Ridley Scholarship Fund’s emphasis on kindness and feel strongly about giving back to the community.”

Choosing Greater Pike and the Art Ridley Kindness fund as their 2021 recipient was natural, according to Quirk Team Member Shaun Burger. Since 1999, they’ve chosen “timely causes” to receive the funds. “Last year we donated to the Ecumenical Food Pantry when it was evident that food insecurity was such a large issue during the Covid pandemic,” he noted. And in 2019, the team donated to the American Cancer Society, since Quirk, Burger and team member Karen Zingone each had personal experiences with cancer.

Ridley passed away earlier this year after serving the community for many years in so many different capacities. Quirk and Burger explained that they wanted to do something to celebrate Art’s contributions “and kindness is so important.”

The Team lets their clients know that a portion of the sale will be donated back to the community. “The clients like and appreciate it,” Quirk said. “Plus it helps the others learn of all the organizations doing good work in the community.”

Asked what their message is to those who might be inspired by their efforts, Quirk encourages others to “be kind and give back.” Burger hopes others will “help their friends and neighbors.”

“We encourage others to match our efforts in funds or in gestures,” added Quirk.
