MILFORD, PA – Greater Pike Community Foundation’s 7th Annual Gala Dinner will be held Thursday, October 6, at the Tom Quick Inn, Milford, PA. This gathering of business, philanthropic, and civic leaders is the Foundation’s primary formal fundraiser and returns after a 2-year hiatus.

Greater Pike’s 2022 honorees will be acknowledged at the event. Bill Kiger will receive the Barbara J. Buchanan Community Service Award, which is given to an individual who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and giving back to our community. The Arlene Quirk Team of Keller Williams Real Estate earned the Richard L. Snyder Business Leadership Award, given for outstanding corporate philanthropic leadership in the community.

“We are extremely pleased to be holding our annual dinner after a 2-year hiatus,“ said Tim Smith, Greater Pike Dinner Committee Chair. “We are very excited to be honoring the Arlene Quirk Team and Bill Kiger for their outstanding contributions to our community.

“Since our founding 10 years ago the Greater Pike Community Foundation has provided over $1 million in support of local charities. With the community’s continued support we can carry on this work. Please join us on October 6 and show your support for both our honorees and the entire community,” he added.

“Gathering means so much more this year than in the past,” said Jenni Hamill, Greater Pike Executive Director. “It is a chance to not only celebrate all that Greater Pike has accomplished since our last dinner event in 2019 but also a reminder of how much we as a community can accomplish both virtually and in person when we work together.”

The honorees each will be asked to direct a $1000 grant to a local non-profit of their choosing and those recipients will be announced at the dinner event.

Tickets for the Greater Pike dinner are available at https://greaterpike.org/1-annual-dinner and www.EventBrite.com or by mail at Greater Pike, P.O. Box 992, Milford, PA, 18337. Bill Kiger, whom many will recognize for the extensive number of organizations he volunteered with over the years, will be honored for his tireless efforts at community support.

“Bill has founded, served, worked with, volunteered for, spoken out for and against, and generally has been a champion of the community,” said Executive Director Jenni Hamill.

“Bill is a worthy recipient of the Barbara J. Buchanan award,” said Smith. “There aren’t many who have a volunteer resume as long and varied as Bill’s, and the fact that he was a friend to Barbara has such special meaning.”

The Richard L. Snyder Business Leadership Award recognizes a local business that has demonstrated outstanding corporate philanthropic leadership in our community. The Arlene Quirk team has been donating a percentage of its earnings to different Great Pike funds for several years.

“The Arlene Quirk team was chosen for their consistent and generous support of the community and for their creative initiative of aligning a portion of their real estate proceeds with charitable causes in the community,” said Smith.

“When we learned that they were making donations to Funds that they felt connected to in some way and answered the call while our community was strained under the effects of COVID, we felt they should be acknowledged and we hope they can set an example for others,” he added.

Greater Pike helps individuals, families, and local businesses to provide a permanent and personal way to give back to the community.
