Greater Pike Community Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

January 19, 2023

MILFORD, PA – Greater Pike Community Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of two seasoned members to its growing Board of Directors. Peter Maio and Justin Pfaff, both of Milford, PA, bring to the foundation the expertise areas of law, finance, and technology, which align consistently with the evolving needs of Pike County.

Maio retired to his Gold Key Lake home in 2019 and he and his wife knew almost immediately that they wanted to do more than just live and recreate in the area. They wanted to give back to the community in a focused and purposeful way, so they started a fund with Greater Pike that will focus on such needs as housing, food insecurity and environmental concerns.

But the more he learned about Greater Pike and the vast expanse of other needs that the organization addresses, he knew he could do more.

“I recently heard the saying ‘change is inevitable; progress is optional’,” Maio said. “Greater Pike is an organization that can ensure progress and I hope as a board member I can help.”

Maio retired from the technology field within the financial services industry. “I spent countless hours figuring out how to get things done, bring projects to completion and be more efficient.

“I can leverage my experience and help Greater Pike move forward,” he added.

Pfaff, an area attorney with experience in a variety of legal and court system matters, served in the Pike County District Attorney’s office before entering private practice. He currently serves as solicitor of the Milford Zoning Board and as a member of the Historic Architectural Review Board. He also was a member of the Steering Committee of CASA of Pike County, assisting the Pike County Dependency Court system provide court-appointed special advocates to children in need of safe and permanent homes.

Pfaff said he’s looking forward to serving on the Board because Greater Pike “has always been on my radar as an integral part of this community. Others whom I respect in the community are affiliated in some way.”

He is especially motivated by Greater Pike’s grants disbursements to nonprofits and scholarships to local students. “These are both big parts of helping this community grow and progress.”

With his law background, Pfaff hopes to help Greater Pike evolve to the next level by assisting with the legal language required with its growing myriad of documents and forms. “I’m happy to help in any way I can,” he added.

Greater Pike helps individuals, families, and local businesses to provide a permanent and personal way to give back to the community.
