Snyder Fund Invites Grant Applications

May 5, 2025
MILFORD, PA – In what has become an annual rite of spring for nonprofit organizations in the Pike County area, the application period for grants from the Richard L. Snyder Fund at Greater Pike Community Foundation is about to open. Greater Pike will accept applications for these grants from May 15 through June 15.
The Richard L. Snyder Fund is an annual open grant program that funds organizations working in the areas of art and culture, historic preservation, community beautification, and health and wellbeing. Specifically, the fund – which has been active since 2015, following Dick Snyder’s death in 2014 – offers grants of up to $5,000 to nonprofits involved in maintaining and enhancing the public areas of Milford Borough; sponsoring local arts, culture, festivals, and events; and promoting medical research and public health, particularly in the fields of multiple sclerosis, HIV, LGBT issues, and domestic violence.
Last year, the fund awarded a total of $91,000 in grants to 31 area nonprofit organizations.
A businessman who operated a llama farm on Foster Hill Road, among other ventures, Mr. Snyder was known for his civic engagement and generosity. He was active in conservation, cultural, historic preservation, and other local organizations. He was a founder of the Milford Enhancement Committee and Greater Pike Community Foundation.
“The Richard L. Snyder Fund allows us to continue Dick’s extraordinary legacy of community investment,” said Rick Little, Greater Pike’s Executive Director. “We’re excited to see how our local nonprofits will transform these resources into meaningful impact in and around Pike County this year.”
Eligible nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply online. Applications will be accepted until midnight on June 15, 2025. Past grant recipients must have completed a closeout report for any previous grants received from Greater Pike before being considered for a new grant.
