EITC Funds Connect Businesses to Students

March 19, 2017

Greater Pike Community Foundation (GPCF) recently received $10,000 from Wayne Bank and $5,000 from The Dime Bank in PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) funds to enhance educationally advanced curriculum at the Delaware Valley (DVSD) and East Stroudsburg Area School (ESASD) Districts. As an approved Educational Improvement Organization (EIO), Greater Pike is able to connect eligible EITC businesses with targeted educational programs within our public schools that are worthy of funding and support.

Through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s EITC program, Greater Pike yearly provides significant funding for innovative educational programming enhancements in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math at both DVSD and ESASD. In 2016-2017 the funding will support academically advanced science-based programs utilizing digital microscopes, a summer science camp, and the development of nature trails and an outdoor classroom.

Executive Director Jenni Hamill of Greater Pike said, “Greater Pike Community Foundation greatly values our partnership with the Wayne and Dime Banks and the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Working together through the EITC program we are able to make an important contribution to the students in our area and help prepare them for successful futures. A worthy COMMUNITY endeavor!”
