Snyder Fund Grants to Help Ease COVID-Related Hardships

April 13, 2020

Greater Pike Community Foundation today announced the earlier-than-usual availability of grants from the Richard L. Snyder Fund. The 2020 grant cycle has been dedicated to helping address the COVID-19 crisis in the greater Pike County area.

“In the face of this crisis, Greater Pike has expedited our funding cycle in hopes that grants from the Richard L. Snyder fund will help ‘flatten the curve’ of the pandemic and lessen its impact on our community,” said Maryanne Monte, Greater Pike’s Grants Committee Chairperson.

Starting April 15th through the close of business on May 15th, grant requests for up to $5,000 will be accepted from local not-for-profits to address both immediate community needs due to the virus and ongoing needs arising out of the pandemic. Requests to support important health behaviors such as social distancing and projects aimed at reducing the effects of social isolation will be considered, as well as requests for operating funds.

“One of the advantages of a community foundation is our ability to provide resources quickly in response to emergency situations, such as what we face today,” said Jim Pedranti, Greater Pike’s board chair. “In addition to the funding from the Snyder grants, we have also established a Greater Pike COVID Relief Fund and a Milford COVID Relief Fund, both of which will be working to address the COVID-19 pandemic.”

More general projects will be eligible to apply for a second round of Snyder grants to be announced later this spring as funds allow.

Interested not-for-profits must complete and comply with the instructions for the Foundation’s Grant Application for consideration.  Greater Pike will not consider incomplete grant applications, nor will office staff have the ability to follow up on missing or incomplete submissions. Additionally, any outstanding final reports from previous grants must be turned in before an organization can submit a new application.
