Grant Available to Help Victims of Domestic Abuse Find Permanent Housing
September 16, 2021
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Greater Pike Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting grant applications on behalf of the Safe Haven Legacy Fund from nonprofit organizations that help victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence in Pike County find permanent housing. Applications should be in by October 15th.
The Safe Haven Legacy Fund was the vision of the Board of Directors of Safe Haven of Pike County, Inc. and former Executive Director Christina Byrne. Safe Haven closed its doors in 2019 after a 28-year run.
“Permanent housing is a critical ingredient in helping survivors and their families be successful and independent,” said Jenni Hamill, Greater Pike’s Executive Director. She added, “Particularly now, when our area is facing a shortage of affordable housing options, this program could make the difference in the lives of families trying to get back on their feet. I strongly urge any organization with expertise in domestic violence, or with providing housing—or both—to apply right away.”
