Greater Pike Names 2025 Honorees for Community Service, Business Leadership, and Nonprofit Excellence

2025 Dinner Honorees

MILFORD, PA – A pair of veteran volunteers, Jim Pedranti and Rosann Kalish, will be among Greater Pike Community Foundation’s honorees for 2025 when the foundation convenes for its 10th Annual Awards Dinner in September. The couple will receive the Barbara J. Buchanan Community Service Award at the event, alongside Biondo Investment Advisors, recipients of the Richard L. Snyder Business Leadership Award, and Pike Autism Support Services of Northeast Pennsylvania, singled out for the Nonprofit Excellence Award.

The dinner will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, at Woodloch Resort in Hawley. The event is open to all, and sponsorships are now available at www.greaterpike.org/annual-dinner. As part of the awards, Greater Pike will give a donation to the nonprofit organization of the honorees’ choosing, to be announced at the dinner.

Snyder Fund Invites Grant Applications

MILFORD, PA – In what has become an annual rite of spring for nonprofit organizations in the Pike County area, the application period for grants from the Richard L. Snyder Fund at Greater Pike Community Foundation is about to open. Greater Pike will accept applications for these grants from May 15 through June 15.

The Richard L. Snyder Fund is an annual open grant program that funds organizations working in the areas of art and culture, historic preservation, community beautification, and health and wellbeing. Specifically, the fund – which has been active since 2015, following Dick Snyder’s death in 2014 – offers grants of up to $5,000 to nonprofits involved in maintaining and enhancing the public areas of Milford Borough; sponsoring local arts, culture, festivals, and events; and promoting medical research and public health, particularly in the fields of multiple sclerosis, HIV, LGBT issues, and domestic violence.

Poetry of Place Event Raises $1,260 for Greater Pike

MILFORD, PA – More than 80 guests gathered at Forest Hall on Saturday, April 12, to celebrate Milford’s vibrant spirit, history, and artistic community during The Poetry of Place, a reading by Milford’s Poet Laureate Chuck O’Neil from his new collection, better gods.

The event, held during National Poetry Month, raised $1,260 for the O’Neil Family Fund at Greater Pike Community Foundation. The fund supports local causes and organizations including historic preservation, autism support services, and food insecurity.

O’Neil’s evocative poetry was paired with the work of the late local artist Joe Splendora, whose paintings were featured in a special temporary exhibition.

Ann Street Park Reimagined: Local Fund Created to Support Park's Future

MILFORD, PA – In an effort to enhance the beauty and accessibility of Ann Street Park, a new fund has been created at Greater Pike Community Foundation to support ongoing development and improvements in the park. The initiative will raise funds for both maintenance and new recreational amenities, with the aim of providing a safe, vibrant space for residents and visitors alike.

The Ann Street Park Reimagined Fund at Greater Pike is designed to be a community-driven effort, bringing together local residents, businesses, and organizations to invest in the future of this beloved green space. Contributions will be used for upgrades including playground installations, ADA accessible equipment and improvements, landscaping projects, and events that promote community engagement.

Chamber of Commerce Raises Nearly $31,000 for Greater Pike’s Chant Fund

MILFORD, PA – The Pike County Chamber of Commerce raised almost $31,000 for the Davis R. Chant Fund for the Arts at Greater Pike Community Foundation through its first-ever Fire & Ice Snowball Gala. Held February 1 at Skytop Lodge, the elegant black-tie event drew 89 attendees to honor the legacy of the late realtor and to celebrate Pike County’s artistic community.

“It was a magical evening—far above and beyond anything imagined,” said his widow, Judy Chant. “Attending the Gala was a profoundly emotional and touching experience for our family and was wonderful to see this premier event celebrated in such a beautiful way,” said daughters Tamara Chant, a realtor at his namesake company, and Holley Chant.

Every Summit Exteriors Roof Will Bring Dollars to Greater Pike

MILFORD, PA – As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the local community, Summit Exteriors has selected Greater Pike Community Foundation as the beneficiary of its community donation program this year and will be donating $100 for every full shingle-roof replacement and $150 for every metal roof installed to support Greater Pike and its work.

This initiative aims to provide essential funding to Greater Pike, which supports local nonprofits working in the arts, education, health, historical preservation, and community development, making a direct impact on the residents of the area.

Barbara J. Buchanan and Safe Haven Legacy Grants Awarded to Six Area Nonprofits

MILFORD, PA – Six area nonprofits will receive grants through a pair of charitable funds at Greater Pike Community Foundation. The Barbara J. Buchanan Fund has awarded a total of $1,700 to five recipients: Serving Seniors, Upper Delaware GLBT Center, Grey Towers Heritage Association, Choosing Integrity, and the Pike County Historical Society. In addition, the Safe Haven Legacy Fund has awarded a grant to Pike County Human Services for its Safe Haven Legacy Housing Program, which provides critical support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by facilitating their relocation to safe and stable housing.

Greater Pike Invites Nonprofits to Connect at Annual Workshop

MILFORD, PA – Local nonprofit organizations are invited to join for a morning of networking, learning, and community building at Greater Pike Community Foundation’s Annual Nonprofit Workshop on Thursday, April 10, at the historic Tom Quick Inn in Milford. Participants will enjoy a light breakfast beginning at 9:00am, with the program running from 9:30am until noon.

Greater Pike Fields 8 Scholarships for High School Seniors

February 12, 2025

MILFORD, PA – Greater Pike Community Foundation is spreading the word among area high school students about eight scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors. Students should ask their guidance counselors for application instructions, materials, and deadlines for the individual scholarships. Recipients are to be announced in June.

Two of the scholarships are earmarked for students involved in the visual arts, while three others are open to pupils who have shown exceptional school, sports, or community engagement.

Buchanan, Safe Haven Funds at Greater Pike Accepting Applications

MILFORD, PA – Two funds at Greater Pike Community Foundation will be accepting grant applications from area nonprofits between February 10 and March 10.

The Barbara J. Buchanan Fund provides grants of up to $500 for community organizations with innovative ideas in the arts and culture, basic human needs, health, families, education, and the environment.

The Safe Haven Legacy Fund provides grants to organizations in Pike County that help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault find permanent, safe housing.
